Foundations and Ground Slabs by Concast

Most industrial and agricultural buildings stand on reinforced pad foundations linked by ground beams, with the ground floor slab cast once the frame is up. We fix the reinforcement cages, set the holding down bolts through templates and pour the bases so that the steel frame can go straight up.

Our work covers pad and strip foundations, ground beams with starter bars, cast-in plates and fixings, and the ground-bearing slab that follows. Concrete is placed by our own pump, and our team is used to working alongside the frame erector and groundworks contractor on a live site.

What the work includes

Pad foundations

Reinforced pads with holding down bolts set through templates for the steel frame.

Ground beams

Ground beam reinforcement fixed in the excavations, with starter bars where needed.

Cast-in fixings

Plates, bolts and ducts cast in as the work proceeds.

Ground-bearing slabs

Reinforced slabs cast once the frame is up.

Pumped concrete

Concrete placed by boom pump, including our own.

Working with others

Programmed around the groundworks contractor and frame erector.

Frequently asked questions

Do you set the holding down bolts for the steel frame?

Yes. Bolts are set through templates to the steelwork drawings and checked before the pour.

Can you cast the foundations and the floor slab?

Yes. We can cast the pads and ground beams first and return for the ground floor slab once the frame and envelope are up.

Do you work from the engineer's drawings?

Yes. We build the foundations to the structural engineer's details and raise any queries before work starts.

Do you supply the pump?

We have our own concrete pump, so placing the concrete is not dependent on a third-party operator.

Planning a foundation package?

Send us the floor area, specification and site location for a labour and plant price.
